ポイント。

it comes down to Aは「結局Aということになる」という意味の熟語です。

知らなくても大丈夫ですが、知っていると安心して解けます。

a first disciplineではなくfirst be a disciplineですので、副詞的に「まず、訓練である」と訳してやってください。

それからmustは「せねばならない」の意で訳してやってください。
